The Things Which Shall Be Hereafter – Part VI The First Two Woes

 

The steps taken to end the worshipping by man of idols and Satan are being carried out in this chapter. 

The fifth trumpet sounds and a plague of locusts come out of the bottomless pit with so much smoke it darkens the sun.  These Locusts sting like scorpions and torment people on earth.  People don’t die in this five month plague, but they wish they could, because the stings are so excruciating.

Then when the sixth trumpet sounds, there is a 200,000,000 strong satanic army whose horses spit fire and have snake tails.  This satanic army is used by God to weed out the bad apples from the earth, preparing for the Millennium.

 

I. The Plague Of Locusts – The 5^th Trumpet - The 1^st Woe

 

 

Revelation 9:1 ¶ And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

Revelation 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

Revelation 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

Revelation 9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Revelation 9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

Revelation 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

Revelation 9:7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

Revelation 9:8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

Revelation 9:9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.

Revelation 9:10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Revelation 9:12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

Revelation 20:1 ¶ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

 

C. The Bottomless Pit

 

1. The Bottomless Pit Is Not The Same Place As Hell – 4 Different Words In The Bible

a. Sheol Was The Temporary Abode Of The Dead In The Old Testament

b. Hades - The Temporary Abode Of The Dead In The New Testament

c. Tartaros – The Temporary Abode Of The Angels That Sinned

d. Gehenna –  Final Retribution For Satan, His Angels, And Unsaved Man (Lake Of Fire)

 

2. The Bottomless Pit – Place Of Confinement Of Special Demons

 

a. These Are The Familiar Spirits In The Old Testament

b. Paul Warned Timothy To Avoid Them

 

I Timothy 4:1 ¶ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

I Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

I Timothy 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

I Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

I Timothy 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

I Timothy 4:6 ¶ If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

 

c. Christ Prophesied These Would Plague Israel As A Nation

 

Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

Matthew 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

Matthew 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation<1085>.

d. Demon Plague Is Undoubtedly Why They Make A Covenant With Antichrist

 

Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Isaiah 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Isaiah 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

 

e. When Christ Cast The Demon Out Of The Demoniac

Luke 8:26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

Luke 8:27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

Luke 8:29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

Luke 8:31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

Luke 8:32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

Luke 8:33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

 

D. The Locusts Come Out Of The Bottomless Pit

c. They Appear To Be A Kind Of Demon In Cherubim Form

1. They Were Combination Of:

a. A Horse

b. A Man

c. A Woman

d. A Lion

e. A Scorpion

2. The Sound Of Their Wings In Flight – As Sound Of Chariots Running To Battle

 

3. The Locusts Were To Torment Men

a. Only Men That Did Not Have The Seal Of God On Their Forehead

b. Their Torments Will Last Five Months

c. Their Torments Like The Sting Of A Scorpion

1. Excruciating Pain

2. Can Cause A Person To Desire Death Rather Than The Pain

d. They Have A King Over Them – The King’s Name Means “Destroyer”

 

4. Joel Prophesied About An Army Of Horsemen – Probably John’s Scorpion-Horses

 

Joel 2:1¶ Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

Joel 2:2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

Joel 2:3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

Joel 2:4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

Joel 2:5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

Joel 2:6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

Joel 2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

Joel 2:8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

Joel 2:9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

Joel 2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

e. Let’s Look A Little Further In Joel:

 

Joel 2:23  Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Joel 2:24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

Joel 2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Joel 2:27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Joel 2:28 ¶ And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Joel 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Joel 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

 

1. It Will Precede The Pouring Out Of The Holy Spirit

2. It Will Be At A Time When The Lord Shows Wonders In Heaven

a. Blood, Fire, And Pillars Of Smoke

b. The Sun Shall Be Turned To Darkness Before The Terrible Day Of The Lord

 

These Will Be Terrible Days For The Men That Took The Mark Of The Beast

 

II. The Plague Of The 200,000K Horsemen – The 6^th Trumpet - The 2^nd Woe

 

 

Revelation 9:13 ¶ And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

Revelation 9:14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

Revelation 9:15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

Revelation 9:16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

Revelation 9:17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were  as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

Revelation 9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

Revelation 9:19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

Revelation 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Revelation 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

II Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

 

1. On The Day Elijah Was Taken Up By A Whirlwind

2. Horses And A Chariot Of Fire Separated Elijah & Elisha

 

II Kings 6:13 ¶ And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

II Kings 6:14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

II Kings 6:15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

II Kings 6:16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

II Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

E. We Know These Horses Are Not Ordinary Horses – Satanic Horses

1. Their Bodies Were Like Horses

2. Their Heads Were Like Lion’s Heads

3. Their Tails Were Like Snakes – Snake Head At The End

4. Smoke And Brimstone Fire Came Out Of Their Mouths

5. The Snake Stings Of Their Tails Killed All In Their Path

F. The Riders Had Breastplates Of Fire, Jacinth, & Brimstone

1. They Slew 1/3 Part Of Men

2. The 4 Leaders Were  Prepared For This Exact Hour, Month, & Year

 

Acts 15:18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

 

G. The Purpose Of These Demonic Horsemen

1. To Punish Idolatry And Demon Worship Of Man

2. To Keep Others From Following These Kinds of Acts

3. The Residue That Did not Die – Left For Later Judgments – They Didn’t Repent

4. God Is Purging Out The Earth For The Millennium
