The Things Which Shall Be Hereafter – Part III – The Seven Seals

 

The stage was set in chapter five for the only One worthy to open or look upon the scroll, the Kinsman Redeemer, Who will break the seals on the title deed of the earth.

As He does this in heaven, at the heavenly tabernacle, devastating events happen on the earth.  These earth convulsions are actually labor pains the earth is suffering to birth a new Age – The Millennium. 

We get a glimpse, by the use of symbols like horses and riders in the book of Revelation.  We do not, however, have to guess at their meanings, because the Old Testament prophets and Christ Himself explains them to us.

 

Revelation 6:1 ¶ And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. Revelation 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

 

I. The First Seal – White Horse - Antichrist

 

A.  The Lamb Broke The First Seal

B. The Lion-Faced Cherubim Cried

1. With A Thundering Voice

2. Come – To The Rider Of The White Horse So John Could See

C. John Saw A White Horse

1. The Rider Had A Bow

2. A Crown Was Given To Him – Stephanos or Victor’s Crown

3. His Purpose & Actions Was Conquering

a. He Dazzles The World With His Victories

b. Becomes The Leader Of The 10 Country Gentile Federation

c. He Will Obtain The Kingdom By Flatteries – Danile 11:21

d. He Is The Prince To Come – Daniel’s 70 Weeks – Daniel 9:26-27

1. Will Make A 7 Year Peace Pact With Israel

2. He Will Break The Peace Pact In 3 ½ Years – Call Himself God

D. The Rider Is The Antichrist

1. This Is Not Christ – The Lamb Is Opening The Seals

2. Christ Appears On A White Horse In Revelation19:11-16 –

a. He Then Has A Diadem Crown – Kingly Crown

b. Called Faithful & True

c. His Name Is Called The Word Of God

d. A Sharp Sword Comes Out Of His mouth

e. He Is Clothed In A Vesture Dipped In Blood

f. His Enemies Will Find A Swift Demise

Revelation 6:3 ¶ And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

 

II. The Second Seal – Red Horse - War

 

A.  The 2^nd Seal Broken – John Heard The Calf-Creature Say Come

B. A Red Horse Appeared

1. The Rider Was Given Power To Take Peace From The Earth

2. The Result – People Will Kill Each Other

3. The Rider Was Given A Great Sword

C. Symbols Of This Event

1. Red – Symbol Of Blood

2. Sword – Symbol Of War

D. This Time Spoken Of By Christ – Matthew 24:6-7

1. Wars & Rumors Of Wars

2. Nation Rise Against Nation

3. Kingdom Shall Rise Against Kingdom

E. Fulfillment Of Paul’s Prophecy

 

I Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

 

Revelation 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. Revelation 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

 

III. The Third Seal – Black Horse - Famine

 

A.  The 3rd Seal Broken – John Heard The Man-Creature Say Come

B. A Black Horse Appeared

1. The Rider Held In His Hand A Pair Of Balances

2. In The Middle Of The 4 Creatures A Voice Said:

a. A Measure Of Wheat For A Penny

b. 3 Measures Of Barley For A Penny

c. Don’t Hurt The Oil & Wine

C. Symbols In This Event

1. Black Horse Symbolizes Famine

2. The Rider Symbolizes The Conservation Of Food

a. Almost Every Man Drafted For War

b. Almost None Left To Plant & Harvest Food

D. It Will Take A Day’s Wages To Buy 2 Pints Of Grain

E. They Will Still Have The Oil & Wine

1. Olives & Grapes Are Harvested Later Than Grain

2. Olives & Grapes Also Do Not Need Planting – Wild

3. Shouldn’t Ruthlessly Destroy Them – Needed For Food

 

Revelation 6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

 

IV. The 4th Seal – Pale Horse – Death & The Grave

 

A.  The 4th Seal Broken – John Heard The Eagle-Creature Say Come

B. A Pale Horse Appeared

1. The Horse Was Pale – chloros – green yellowish pale or death color

2. Not Surprisingly This Horse Is Called Death

3. Hades Or The Grave Followed Him

C. Notice The Other Riders Were Not Named

D. This Is Some Pestilence – After War This Can Happen

E. The Destruction And Judgment Will Be Like Isaiah Wrote About

 

Isaiah 5:10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

Isaiah 5:11  Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

Isaiah 5:12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

Isaiah 5:13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Isaiah 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Isaiah 5:15 And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

Isaiah 5:16 But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

 

F. The 4 Riders Are The 4 Sore Judgments Of Ezekiel

 

Ezekiel 14:21  For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

Ezekiel 14:22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

 

Revelation 6:9 ¶ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? Revelation 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

 

V. The 5th Seal – Souls Under The Sacrificial Altar

 

A. The Lamb Opens 5^th Seal – John Saw Souls Of Martyrs Under The Altar

1. They Were Slain For The Word Of God

2. They Were Slain For The Testimony They Gave

3. After The Rapture Of The Church

B. Christ Says At This Time During The Tribulation:

 

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

 

1. The Gospel John The Baptist Was Preaching

 

Matthew 3:1¶ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 3:3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

 

2. Elijah Is Prophesied To Preach During This Time

 

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

Malachi 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

 

C. A Persecution Will Follow This Gospel

 

D. These Souls Are Martyred Jews With A Soul Body

1. They Are Given White Robes Of Righteousness

2. They Cry For God To Avenge Their Death

3. They Are Comforted - Told To Rest A Season Until Revelation 20

a. Their Fellow-servants Join Them

b. Their Brethren Join Them

E. These Are The Saints That Daniel Saw Receiving The Kingdom

 

Daniel 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is  an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Daniel 7:28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

 

VI. The 5th Seal – Changes On Earth

 

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Revelation 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Revelation 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

 

A. John Saw Earth Changes

1. An Earthquake

2. Sun Became Black

3. Moon Became As Blood – Like Figs Loosened By The Wind

4. The Stars Fell

5. The Heaven disappeared Like A scroll rolled Together

6. Every Mountain Is Moved

B. These Are Actual Events

1. Not Political Take Overs

2. The Earth Is Literally Shaken

C. The Prophets Also Saw This Event

1. Zechariah Predicts A Dark Day With Earthquakes – Zechariah 14:1-7

2. Isaiah Saw These Days – Isaiah 13:9-10

3. Joel Prophesied This Event:

 

Joel 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

 

3. And Again From Isaiah:

 

Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

 

D. These Earth Changes Are Actually Labor Travail Pains

1. The Earth Is Now Laboring For A New Creation – Millennial Age

2. Christ Taught About This Time

 

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

 

3. These Are Not Kingdoms Of The Earth

4. They Are Principalities – Powers Of Darkness

 

E. These Will Be Terrible Times

1. I’m So Glad The Church Will View It From Heaven

2. These Are Judgments Of Hardening – Most Don’t Repent

 

Revelation 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Revelation 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
