Coachlight Bible Study – Revelation Chapter 10 – The
Things That Shall Be Hereafter – Part VII – The Finished Mystery Of God
This chapter and
chapter eleven are another interval or parenthesis. This interval is positioned between the sixth
and seventh trumpets. The intervals give
us an overall view of God’s judgments and mercy during Daniel’s 70th
week or the Tribulation Period. Christ
appears to John with a little book in his hand and places one foot on the sea
and one foot on the earth. It is getting
time for the Kinsman Redeemer to take possession on His Kingdom. Christ proclaims What
happens when the seventh trumpet does sound; the mystery of God Will Be
finished. Because we are part of this
mystery of God, the book of Colossians tells us how to apply the book of
Revelation to our lives.

Revelation 10:1 ¶
And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and
a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet
as pillars of fire:
Revelation 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his
right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
Revelation 10:3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered
their voices.
Revelation 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was
about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those
things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
Revelation 10:5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the
earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
Revelation 10:6 And
sware by him that liveth
for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the
earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are
therein, that there should be time no longer:
Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he
shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath
declared to his servants the prophets.
Revelation 10:8 ¶
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me
again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the
angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Revelation 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the
little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy
belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s
hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I
had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
Revelation 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many
peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

C. Paul Uses The Same Phrase – ‘Mystery Of God’ – In Colossians
Colossians 1:26
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is
made manifest to his saints:
Colossians 1:27 To
whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among
the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Colossians 1:28
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that
we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Colossians 1:29
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his
working, which worketh in me mightily.
Colossians 2:1 ¶
For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the
flesh;
Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being
knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of
understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the
Father, and of Christ;
Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
1. Notice What The Mystery Is – Christ In You
a. The Mustery Is Not The Glory
b. The Mystery Is The Hope Of Glory
2. Before This Paul Gave Thaks To God That The Colossians Had:
Colossians 2:3 ¶ We
give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for
you,
Colossians 2:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the
love which ye have to all the saints,
Colossians 2:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,
whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
Colossians 2:6
Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth
forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the
grace of God in truth:
3. Before This Paul Prayed That The Colossians Had:
Colossians 2:9 ¶
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for
you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in
all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Colossians 2:10
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in
every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Colossians 2:11
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience
and longsuffering with joyfulness;
Colossians 2:12 ¶ Giving
thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light:
Colossians 2:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath
translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Colossians 2:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the
forgiveness of sins:
V. What Should We
Do Since We Have This Inheritance?
A. We Need To
Be Rooted And Built Up In Christ
B. Our
Lifestyle Must Be Patterned After Christ
Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk
ye in him:
Colossians 2:7
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the
faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with
thanksgiving.
C. Our
Philosophy Must Be Patterned After Christ – Not The
World
Colossians
2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the
tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all
principality and power:
D. Like The Jews Had Circumcision As A Sign Of The Covenant
1. There Is
Also A Sign For The Christian – Partakers In The
Inheritance
2. Putting Off
The Body The Sins Of The Flesh – He Makes Us Alive
Again
E. We Must Be
Buried With Him – By Baptism Of The Holy Ghost
F. We Must Be
Raised By Faith In The Operation Of God
Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made
without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the
circumcision of Christ:
Colossians 2:12
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the
faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Colossians 2:13¶ And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision
of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all
trespasses;
G. We Must
Seek The Things Of Heaven – Not Things Of Earth
1. Realise We Are Dead – Hid In Christ
2. Christ Is
Our Life
a. When He
Appears
b. We Will
Then Have Our Inheritance
Colossians 3:1¶ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are
above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:2 Set
your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:4 When
Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in
glory.
H. We Must Put
Off The Old Man – Put On The New Man
Colossians 3:5 ¶
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication,
uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which
is idolatry:
Colossians 3:6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the
children of disobedience:
I. We Must Let
The Word Of God Dwell In Us In All Wisdom
a. We Must Teach
b. Admonish Each Other
c. Do Everything In The Name Of The
Lord Jesus
Colossians 3:16 Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Colossians 4:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and
not unto men;
Colossians
J. We Must
Live Our Lifestyle With All Wisdom
a. So We Can Be The Example
We Need To Be
b. Our Words Need To Be In Grace
c. We Need To Be Prepared To Answer Questions Or Give Godly Advise
Colossians 4:5 ¶
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Colossians 4:6 Let
your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt,
that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
