The Scripture of Truth – Part 3 of 3 – Time of the End

 

This lesson is the final part of Daniel’s vision begun in the tenth chapter of Daniel.  Daniel has served God through two empires of the Times of the Gentiles now.

God Honors Daniel by revealing to him what will happen in the last days of the age, and the proclamation of the Kingdom of Christ

It gives us insight into these events, including events of the Great Tribulation, and the Resurrection and Salvation of Israel as a Nation

 

I. The Time of the End - The Willful King Is Antichrist

 

Daniel 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

 

A. Suddenly Appears "The King" - Verse 36 – We Heard Of Him Before

1. This is not a new character in the book of Daniel

2. There was no need for Daniel to introduce him again

3. It does not say a king – But The King

B. Where Has He Been Spoken Of Before? – Progressive Revelation of Daniel

1. He is – ‘Little horn’ of the 4th wild beast – Daniel 7:8

2. He is – ‘Little horn’ out of the 4 horns of the ram & He-goat – Daniel 8:9-12

3. He is – ‘Prince that shall come’ in Daniel’s 70 weeks – Daniel 9:26-27

3. He is – ‘Willful King’ in this lesson

C. What Are Some Of The Common Characteristics?

1. They all appear at the same time

2. They all reign at the Time of the End

3. They all face the same destruction

4. They all have the same willful disposition

5. They all represent the same person

 

II. The God Of Antichrist

 

Daniel 11:37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

Daniel 11:38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

Daniel 11:39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.


 

A. The Gods That The Willful King Will Not Regard

1. He will not regard the God of his fathers

a. The God of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob

b. The ‘Willful King’ is Probably a Jew

2. He will not regard the gods women desire

3. He will speak marvelous things against the God of gods

4. He shall exalt & magnify himself above every god

B. The gods That The Willful King Will Regard

1. He will honor the god of forces in place of God

a. The god of this world

b. The force that will get him his kingdom – rejected by Christ

2. God has determined his time & purpose – Time of the end

3. He will prosper until the end of the indignation – (tribulation)

 

III. The King Of The South Pushes At The Willful King

 

Daniel 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him [King of the North] : and the king of the north [Wilful King] shall come against him [The king of the South] like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

Daniel 11:41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

Daniel 11:42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

Daniel 11:43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

 

A. This ‘Willful King’ Appears At The Time Of The End

1. After the church age gap – ‘Prince that shall come’

2. The ‘Willful King’ Is Called The King of the North - Above

B. In Chapter 8 – We Learned Events & Succession Will Be Similar

1. Alexander’s kingdom divided into four parts

2. In the ‘latter time of their kingdom’ – ‘King of fierce Countenance’

3. He stands up from the Syria division of the kingdom – ‘Little horn’

4. This ‘King of fierce countenance’ is ‘Willful King’ here

C. Time Of The End -The King of the South Will Come Against ‘Willful King’

1. King of the South is some future King of Egypt

2. He will be part of the 10 leagued kingdoms

D. The Willful King Will Return The Attack Of Egypt

1. Daniel likens his attack like a whirlwind

a. With Chariots

b. With horsemen

c. With Many ships

2. He will have no trouble taking care of Egypt


3. Edom, Moab, Ammon shall escape his advances

4. The Glorious Land & Egypt will not escape his wrath

a. He will take the treasures of Egypt

b. Libyans & Ethiopians will fall at his feet

 

Daniel 11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

Daniel 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

 

A. In The Middle Of His Egyptian Invasion He hears Bad News

1. From the East -  Babylon his capitol

2. From The north

B. This Bad News Will Fill Him With Rage

1. He will leave Egypt with ‘great furry’

2. He will pitch his war tents between the seas

a. Mediterranean & Dead Seas

b. On the Glorious Holy Mountains

C. This Bad News Will Fill Him With Rage

1. No One Will Help Him Here

2. He will come to his end here – Zechariah 14

 

IV. Michael The Prince

 

Daniel 12: 1 ¶ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: …

 

A. At What Time?

1. The Time of the Willful King

2. The Time of the End – Daniel 11:40

B. There Should Be No Chapter Divisions From chapter 10-12

C. Who Is Michael?

1. Mentioned 3 times in Daniel

a. Daniel 10:13

b. Daniel 10:21

c. Daniel 12:1 – Prince who stands for Daniel’s people

2. Jude 9 – called an archangel

3. Revelation 12:7 – In command of the angelic army of heaven

4. Michael’s work seems to primarily be to deliver the Jews

IV. The Great Tribulation

 

Daniel 12:1b … and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

 

A. The Scriptures Teach About A Great Tribulation Coming On The Earth. 

B. Christ Taught It In The Olivet Discourse

 

Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

 

C. This Is Not The Sufferings Of Destruction Of Jerusalem Od AD 70

1. It was only local

2. It fell upon the Jews only

3. The Great Tribulation will fall on the whole world

4. Great physical changes in the world follow the Great Tribulation

5. The Great Tribulation ends with the 2nd Advent of Christ

 

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

a. There will be war in heaven

H. Other Prophecies Spoke Of The Great Tribulation

a. Jeremiah spoke about a time of trouble for Israel – Jeremiah 30:4-7

1. Time of Jacob’s Trouble

2. Compared it to suffering of a woman’s birth-pangs

b. Ezekiel spoke of a time Israel will “Pass under the Rod” – Ezekiel 22:18-22

c. Ezekiel spoke about God gathering together Israel in Jerusalem22:18-22

1. God will cast them into His melting pot

2. They will be refined as silver is refined

d. John Gave the Tribulation details in the Last Book – Revelation 12:1-19:21

1. It will be a time of judgment for the Jews

2. It is not a time for the church – church not mentioned Revelation 4:1-19:6

e. The church will be raptured time of Revelation 4:1

f. If the church was going through the Tribulation

1. The church should be looking for tribulation

2. Instead of  watching for the Son from Heaven

 

I Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

1. The church should be looking for tribulation

2. Instead of His Son from heaven

 

V. Israeli Resurrection

 

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

 

A. The Scriptures Speak Of Three Kinds Of Resurrection

1.  Spiritual Resurrection

a. Those who are spiritually dead in Trespasses and Sins

     Ephesians 2:1-16; 5:14, Romans 6:11

b. This is a continual Present Resurrection

c. When a soul is born again - pass from death unto life - John 5:24

2. Physical Resurrection

a. This is of the dead body.

b. The spirit of man does not die - It goes back to God who gave it

1. All that goes into the grave is the body

2. All that can come out of the grave is the body


c. The bodies of both the Righteous and the Wicked shall rise

d. They do not at the same time – 1000 year difference

1. The Righteous - Resurrection of Life - Before the Millennium

2. The Wicked -  Resurrection of Damnation – End of Millennium

     John 5:28-29.

3. National Resurrection

 a. Israel who are now nationally dead

b. They are buried in the Graveyard of the Nations

c. They are to be revived and restored to their own land - Jeremiah 16: 14-15

 

B. When Israel Is Restored - The Whole 12 Tribes Will Be On The Land

1. Romans 11:26 – All Israel will be saved

2. Ezekiel 37:11 – Dry Bones represented whole house of Israel

 

Ezekiel 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

 

C. Notice No Graves In Israel Are Opened

1. The Israeli Patriarchs are buried there

2. This is not a general resurrection

a. This is only Israeli’s who died in other lands

b. The next 2 verses answer this

Ezekiel 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, [In your own land] O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

Ezekiel 37:14  And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live [nationally], and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

 

D. This Is In Accord With The Rest Of Scripture – Gathering of Israel

     Jeremiah 16:14-15; Isaiah 43:5-7. Amos 9:14-15

1. They are to pass through judgment of fire of the Tribulation

     (Ezekiel 20: 34-38; 22: 19-22.  Zechariah 13:9. Malachi 3:1-3

2. They will have to call on the Lord for Deliverance - Zechariah 12: 10

3. They will nationally repent - Zechariah 12:11-14

4. They will be converted

 

Ezekiel 36:24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

Ezekiel 36:25 ¶ Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

 

5. Isaiah 66:8 – The Nation of Israel Will Be Born In A Day

 


Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

 

E. Ezekiel’s ‘Vision of Dry Bones’ Is Expounded On With The ‘2Sticks’

    Ezekiel 37:15-28

1. Ezekiel was told to write on a stick – Judah

2. Then he was told to write on another stick – Ephraim

3. The Ezekiel was told to put them together – end to end

 

Ezekiel 37:18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?

Ezekiel 37:19  Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

Ezekiel 37:20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

Ezekiel 37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

Ezekiel 37:22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

 

F So All 12 Tribes Will Be Gathered Together

1. Into their own land

2. And redistricted as in:

 

Jeremiah 3:18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

 

G. Daniel Was To Understand What Would Befall The Jews In The Latter Days Daniel 10:14

1. He had to teach about the Great Tribulation

2. He had to teach about the Israel’s National Resurrection Following Tribulation

3. It is taught well In verse 2:

 

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.


 

VI. There Will Be A Great Tribulation Revival

 

Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

 

A. They That Are Wise Will Be Teaching The Gospel Of The Kingdom

B. These Wise Are Like The Children Of Issachar In The Old Testament

 

I Chronicles 12: 32  And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

 

1. They will have understanding of the times

2. They will know what Israel ought to do

 

B. We Have Seen That God Will Regather The Nation Of Israel

C. The Lord Will Use His Witnesses At The End Of The Tribulation

D. There Will Be A Great Tribulation Revival

 

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth

 

E. Many Will Be Made Righteousness

 

VII. The Sealed Book

 

Daniel 12:  But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

 

A. Daniel Was Told To Seal up The Book

B. John Was Told To Seal Not The Book – Revelation 22:10

C. The Jews Would Be Willfully Ignorant – Blinded

 

1. When the disciples asked Christ why he taught in parables

 

Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Matthew 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Matthew 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:


Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

 

2. Paul spoke of the Veil of Unbelief on the hearts of Israel

 

II Corinthians 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

II Corinthians 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

II Corinthians 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

 

3. To the Nation of Israel – Daniel is a closed book

a. It will only be closed to them until the ‘Time of the End’

b. Then prophetic knowledge will be increased

 

VIII. The Length Of The "Time Of The End"

 

Daniel 12:5 ¶ Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

Daniel 12:6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

Daniel 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

 

A. Daniel Asked Christ – How Long To The End of These Wonders

B. His Answer Was – Time, Times, And A Half – 3 ½ years

C. The Book Of Revelation Says The Same Thing

 

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth

 

D. This Is The Last Half Of The Great Tribulation – 3 ½ Years

Time, Times, And A Half = 42 Months = 1,260 Days = 3 ½ Years


 

IX. Daniel Asks Again Out Of Not Understanding

 

Daniel 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Daniel 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Daniel 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

 

A. Daniel Did Not Understand How All This Could Happen In 3 ½ Years

B. Daniel Is Told It Will Be A Long Time Away – Time Of The End Of The Age

C. The Wise Will Understand The Prophecy – They Will Be Purified

D. The Wicked Will Do Wickedly

E. Daniel Is Give Two Other Lengths Of Time

1. 1290 Days – 30 days after the Great Tribulation

a. Times of the Gentiles will close

b. Israel will be regathered

2. 1,335 Days – 75 days after the Great Tribulation

a. The Kingdom will be proclaimed

b. The lord will say:

 

Matthew 25: 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

 

X. Daniel Shall Stand In His Lot At The End Of Days

 

Daniel 12:13  But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

 

A. Daniel Is Over 90 Years Old Now

B. Daniel Has Lived In Babylon Over 70 Years – Away From His Holy City

C. Daniel Has Served God Trough Two Empires Of The Times Of The Gentiles

D. God Honored Him By Being His Friend – God Gave Him Secrets

E. When The Times Of The Gentiles End – Daniel Will Stand In His Lot
